No Longer at Cisco

When not in front of the camera for Cisco TechWiseTV or behind a studio microphone for the Cisco TechWise Podcast Network you can typically find Jimmy Ray writing-reversing code while watching Star Trek re-runs in the background and thinking about fishing and beef jerky. He has a real passion for all things networking and absolutely loves working in IT. As a storyteller, Jimmy Ray loves speaking to anyone that will listen and he also conducts advanced training for engineers across North America and Europe and regularly speaks at industry conferences such as VON, CeBIT, NetWorld+Interop, Networkers, RSA, VoiceCon, Comdex, HP World and numerous regional events. His topic of choice is network foundation and security penetration testing.

As a field engineer, Jimmy Ray experiences networking first hand behind the console or in the rack. He has been an active participant of the information technology (IT) community for more than 19 years, with particular emphasis on local area network (LAN) wide area network (WAN) infrastructure hacking and keeping the "bad dudes" out of your network by understanding and teaching you the dynamically changing dark arts of the hacking communities around the world. He is an active member in the IEEE and the Ethernet Alliance. Jimmy Ray has designed, installed and tested numerous networks for Fortune 500 companies, the United States military, Internet-based businesses, universities and other education institutions around the world. Before joining Cisco, Purser served as Master Level Engineer at HP where he helped design and prototype products, write and debug code and work with customers on numerous network architectural designs.

Purser holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He holds 3 U.S. Patents on for Ethernet security algorithms with two others pending and one defensive publication, as well as numerous other vendor certifications in networking and security.
